Quilceda Creek
“Galitzine” Cabernet Sauvignon
Our 17-acre Galitzine Vineyard in the small Red Mountain AVA was planted in 2001-2002 exclusively to Cabernet Sauvignon Clone 8. The grapes from this vineyard produce a powerful, structured wine with intense black fruit and earthy minerality, eminently worthy of its single vineyard designation. The 2019 Quilceda Creek “Galitzine” Cabernet Sauvignon Clone 8 is a classic wine. It is comprised of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon from Galitzine Vineyard and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Mach One vineyard in the Horse Heaven Hills AVA. The 2019 “Galitzine” is highly aromatic, with floral, dense blackberry, boysenberry and cassis fruit that command one’s attention. Nuances of truffles, spice, graphite and minerals add additional complexity to this rich and savory wine. Drink now-2042.

"Clone 8 Cabernet Sauvignon from Red Mountain, brought up in new barrels (as are all of the wines aside from the CVR), the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Galitzine is dense purple hue with a gorgeous cassis and blue fruits as well as dried spice, flowers, camphor, and graphite-driven aromas and flavors. This deep, rich, concentrated, flawlessly balanced beauty has ultra-fine tannins, a seamless, elegant mouthfeel, and a great, great finish. It's more straight and focused than the Columbia Valley release and will benefit from 4-5 years of bottle age, but it's gorgeous."

"The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Galitzine Vineyard Clone 8 is entirely composed of clone 8 selection from this site on Red Mountain. It’s quite simply one of the finest wines that I have tasted this year. On the nose, it takes on beautiful red florals, dark currants, huckleberry cordial and Turkish coffee with shades of creosote and sandalwood. The palate is opulent, polished and beautifully textured, delivering seamless length and amazing persistence. Cassis, espresso bean, sagebrush and Black Forest cake flavors all come together wonderfully on the palate. Glorious now, this has another 20 years ahead of it."

"The Cabernet Sauvignon Galitzine Vineyard bottling has been renamed and is now labeled as Clone 8; this is part of the estate's new range of clonal bottlings, which honors the family's namesake and heritage. The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Galitzine Clone 8 displays precision and focus with Red Mountain's firm, rocky minerality before showcasing layers of velvety, dark red fruit that wafts from the glass. Full-bodied and firmly structured, elements of sweet red berries and seductive vanilla flavors offer up layers of complexity with gripping tannins. The Clone 8 concludes with elegance and persistence on the delightful, velvety finish, leaving behind a lovely, red-fruited finesse that continues to shine."

"The 2019 'Galitzine' is an absolute knockout. This instantly opens to seductive aromas of ripe blackcurrants and dark plums that are wound by lead pencil shavings, violets, gravel, dried tobacco and mocha nuances. The palate is absolutely stunning, full-bodied and seamless, with an incredible deep concentrated inner-core that pumps out layers of perfectly ripe dark and blue fruit flavors along with hints of mocha and graphite which continue to resonate all the way through the long expressive finish where it continues to display a wonderful sense of purity and freshness. This is an absolute gem from Quilceda Creek that delivers on every level, a truly remarkable Cabernet that is excellent now, but will certainly age gracefully. 2024-2044."
