2015
Quilceda Creek
“CVR” Red Wine
The 2015 vintage is known for its richness and intensity — the result of a growing season that was the warmest recorded to date in the state of Washington. We help our vines grow robust canopies early in the season, to protect the grapes during the hottest days of summer, and that strategy paid off especially well this year. Extraordinary fruit was delivered to the winery and the 2015 was assembled from a combination of our top vineyard sites: Champoux, Galitzine, Palengat, and Wallula. Because our CVR bottlings are made to drink earlier than our other releases, this release is a wonderful introduction into the incredible 2015 vintage.
The final blend was 81 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, 11 percent Merlot, 4 percent Cabernet Franc, and 4 percent Petit Verdot, all aged in 100 percent French oak. At this stage of its development, the red and black fruit is front and center and is beginning to integrate with the silky tannins. It is full-bodied and approachable now, although it will continue to evolve through 2030 and beyond.

"The 2015 CVR Columbia Valley Red Wine checks in as a blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. It's a great introduction to the estate and offers a creamy, full-bodied, elegant, seamless style that just begs to be drunk. Crème de cassis, kirsch, violets, and incense notes all emerge from the sweetly fruited, pretty, elegant red that has incredibly sweet tannin."
