Quilceda Creek
“CVR” Red Wine

quilceda creek washington state CVR Red Wine

When we have an extraordinary vintage such as 2008, we can be even more discerning with the fruit we choose for our ultra-premium wines. This means a step-up in quality overall, and our Red Wine most definitely benefitted from our meticulous sorting procedures.

This year’s blend was 81 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, 13 percent Merlot, 5 percent Cabernet Franc, and 1percent Malbec. As in Bordeaux, the primary grape carries the lead in terms of structure and basic flavor, but the others add character and style. You’ll find our renowned black cherry fruit (a marker for Cabernet Sauvignon grapes grown in Champoux Vineyard) along with vanilla extract, roasted herbs, lead pencil, and smoke. After 22 months in French oak barrels, it has additional depth and a silky roundness to the finish. It will drink well over 15 years following its release.

"The Quilceda Creek lineup begins with the 2008 Red Wine made up of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot, with the balance Cabernet Franc and Malbec. Aromas of cedar, spice box, mineral, incense, black currant, and blackberry inform the nose of a ripe, savory, smooth-textured wine. In the glass it displays more minerality, excellent volume, and enough structure to evolve for 1-2 years. Enjoy this first-class effort now through 2020."
